Les Commentaires du Sutra
Que votre esprit jaillisse sans demeurer nulle part
En ce qui concerne les commentaires du Sūtra du diamant, la légende veut que le premier qui le commenta fut Maitreya 弥勒. Au-delà de la légende, il faut noter les commentaires sanskrits, traduits en chinois, des auteurs suivants :
Asanga 无著(IVème siècle) traduit par Dharmagupta 达磨笈多(T.1510, 金刚般若论)
Vasubandhu 天视 frère cadet d’Asanga (IVème siècle) traduit par Bodhiruci (T.1511, 金刚般若波罗蜜论)
T.1512 金刚仙论十卷 (La tradition veut qu’il ait été traduit par Bodhiruci, mais il semble, suivant les études contemporaines, qu’il ait été composé en Chine)
Vasubandhu traduit par Yijing 义净 contemporain de Huineng (T.1513, 能断金刚般若波罗蜜多经论释)
Asanga traduit par Yijing (T. 1514, 能断金刚般若波罗蜜多经论颂)
Srīdatta traduit par Divākara (T.1515, 金刚般若波罗蜜经破取著不壞假名论) (Vagra-kkhedikā prajñāpāramitā-sūtra-sāstra on the refutation of grasping and attachment to the undestroyed and artificial name ainsi mentionné dans A Catalogue of the Chinese Translation of the Buddhist Tripitaka, the Sacred Canon of the Buddhists in China and Japan)
Vasubandhu et Asanga sont souvent cités par les commentateurs ultérieurs. Parmi les commentaires chinois anciens se trouvent ceux des auteurs suivants et des compilations ci-mentionnées :

五家解本: Kihwa's commentary to the redaction of five famous East Asian scholars on the Diamond Sutra 金刚经. This includes the commentaries by （1） Zongmi 宗密; the Jingang jing shoulun zuanyao 金刚经疏论纂要. （2） Huineng 慧能 the Jingang jing jieyi 金刚经解义. （3） Shuanglin fu 双林傅， the Liangzhao fu dashi song jingang jing 梁朝傅大师颂金刚经. （4） Yefu Daochuan 冶父道川. （5） Yuzhang Zongjing 豫章宗镜. Interwoven with these commentaries and the text of the sutra itself is Kihwa's own sub-commentary. Kihwa also writes a substantial introduction to this piece， in which he makes powerful argument for a balanced approach to religious practice， including both sitting meditation 禅 and scriptural study 教.
